ARTIST STATEMENT

I found that by stacking forms, ordering them through a lens of beauty, a pictorial dialogue develops between the harmonic line and the chaotic line. Distant buildings peel away using paint to depict illusory figures of people and animals. Ancient landscapes loom in this mocked atmosphere, allowing the oil colors, light and form to pave the way. The supports of the physical object of the painting are usually linen or canvas glued to wood panels which are instrumental in application of varied textures, using palette knives, oil sticks and brushwork. It is essential to ground the work with defined forms, specific unto their own, while still retaining an overall connection to the painting.
