ARTIST STATEMENT

Through the stacking of forms, then ordering them through a lens of beauty, a pictorial dialogue can develop between the harmonic line and the chaotic line. Distant buildings peel away, using paint to depict illusory figures of people and animals. Ancient landscapes loom in this mock atmosphere, allowing the oil colors, light and form to pave the way. The supports of the physical object of the painting are linen or canvas glued to wood panels, which are instrumental in the application of varied textures. Palette knives, oil sticks and brushwork all work towards the alchemy of these applications. It is essential to ground the work itself with defined forms, specific unto their own, while still retaining an overall connection to the painting.
